Education: An introduction to medical cannabis


This course has been designed for clinicians who are beginning their journey into prescribing medical cannabis, or who would like to improve their knowledge in medical cannabis. The goal of this course is to provide sufficient education to make the prescriber comfortable with identifying, initiating, and maintaining a patient on medical cannabis.

Meet our Educators


Dr.Maria Fernanda Arboleda, Khiron’s International Director for Medical Services.

Dr. Arboleda is an Anaesthesiologist, Pain and Palliative Care Physician. She completed a Spine-Regional Anaesthesia Fellowship at the McGill University Health Centre and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Supportive Cancer Care and Medical Cannabis, at the Department of Oncology, McGill University, and at Santé Cannabis, a leading specialized cannabis clinic in Canada.

Michael Boivin, Pharmacist Consultant for Commpharm Consulting Inc.

Michael Boivin has developed over 500 different continuing education activities for physician specialists, family physicians, pharmacists, and nurses. The topics he has written or presented is extensive and include medical cannabis, pain management, musculoskeletal disorders, psychiatry, oncology, among others.

Dr. Guillermo Moreno-Sanz, Khiron’s Scientific and Medical Director for Europe.

Dr. Moreno-Sanz holds a PhD in Neurosciences and has authored more than 30 scientific articles and 3 patents describing the role of the endocannabinoid system in pain perception. He developed most of his academic career at the University of California, Irvine, where he discovered a new class of cannabinoid analgesics. In 2017, Dr. Moreno-Sanz served as a consultant to the US National Academies of Sciences in the report “The Health Effects of Cannabis and Cannabinoids”.
