About The Medical Cannabis Clinicians Society

Founded in 2019 by Hannah Deacon and Professor Mike Barnes, the Society gives clinicians the opportunity to share practical knowledge, develop transparent and independent guidance and lead the conversation as clinicians in the sector.

As more and more clinicians begin to prescribe medical cannabis for their patients, the Society provides a confidential, independent network for clinicians to share experiences in patient consultation, prescribing, accessing products and treatments, research and evidence.

Members of the Society have access to further information including prescribing guidelines, a secure online support network and discounts to training and events. The Society is a community interest company: Medcan Clinicians Society CIC (company #12000732).

Hannah Deacon: Her Story and Legacy

Hannah Deacon, co-founder of the Medical Cannabis Clinicians Society, played a central role in the legalisation of medical cannabis in the UK. Her campaign on behalf of her son Alfie helped change the law in 2018 and shaped the development of the sector that followed.

Her work led directly to the creation of the Society, with a clear focus on improving education, supporting clinicians, and increasing access for patients.
