Protected: Myths, Questions and Challenges: Addressing Common Conversations in Medical Cannabis Prescribing (Copy 1)
  • Higher THC does not mean greater efficacy.
  • Most patients respond best to low-THC, high-CBD products, gradually titrated.
  • Starting doses:
    • THC oil: 2 mg/day (1 mg for older/frail adults)
    • Increase weekly by 1–2.5 mg to a typical range of 10–15 mg/day
    • Flos (flower): ~1 g/day on average
  • If a patient requests higher THC, clinicians should reassess the route, timing, tolerance, or product selection and discuss within the MDT if needed.
